Dear Elementary Parents,

Merry Christmas! This being the last weekly update before Christmas, I want to make sure and wish you and your family all the best this Christmas. We will be praying for safe travels and great health for our school community over the break. Please encourage your child to stay focused for the last five school days as we would hate for any students to have an academic slip right at the end of the quarter. Remember that this Friday will be a minimum day.

Last Friday was my birthday and I have to say that no birthday experience has been quite like spending chapel with the Elementary students. They made me a sandwich sign birthday card complete with stuffed cardinals on the shoulders. During chapel I shared with them how special it made me feel to have them say such encouraging words throughout the day. We also stressed that it is such an easy act of kindness to say something nice to our classmates, teachers and parents. Hopefully, our campus will always be a place where students encourage one another and every child understands how special they are.

There will be no intramural sports this week. With the wet and freezing weather weve been having, the field is in no condition to accommodate so many children playing on it at once. We will be setting up an additional classroom where students can relax and watch a movie. Homework help and cooking class will still be available. New options during the early release time will be announced over break and available for our students when they return from Christmas break.

A few reminders before closing:

1) Attached is a letter from the Woodland Police Department thanking WCS for the cookie baskets.
2) The Extended Care schedule for Christmas break is also attached.
3) Friday, December 18th is a minimum day.
4) No School Monday, December 21st through Monday, January 5th. Enjoy your Christmas Break!
5) Scrip certificates make great Christmas presents. Attached is a Scrip order form for your convenience.

Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. Matthew 1:20-21.

May the Lord be with you this Christmas and may your heart be full of the joy and hope that celebrating Christs birth brings. What a great time of year.

Merry Christmas,

Justin Smith
