Dear High School Parents,

The worship band from William Jessup University joined us for an outstanding chapel last week. Jim Jessup spoke and challenged the students in their walk with God. We were also given a brief presentation of the new University in Rocklin. Chapels have been great all year!

On another note, the motto for this year's Varsity Volleyball team is "Never Lose Hope." This is a double reference to their season's dedication to the fight against breast cancer and a collective team attitude. Last Thursday night the high school Volleyball team defeated Turlock Christian and demonstrated this very motto in the athletic sense. Down 14 - 7 in the final game, with one point to go the Cardinals rallied to score 9 straight points. This enabled them to make it to the section semi-finals tomorrow night. What a "nail-biter"!

Coming events this week:

Emergency Responders' Cookie Baskets:

Due to an unexpected, significant increase in the number of Emergency Responders originally estimated, the WCS Outreach Committee must, unfortunately, scale back our cookie basket project. At this time, we will only be able to supply cookie baskets to the Police and Fire departments. With all of the families who have volunteered to bake cookies, we will be able to provide baskets to cover all Woodland Police department officers and administration; as well as every person on every shift at each Woodland Fire stations. WCS will be presenting the baskets at the Police vs. Fire flag football game this Saturday evening at WHS. Representatives from the Police and Fire departments will accept the baskets of cookies at half-time from WCS administrators.

We would like to thank all of the families who have already volunteered to bake cookies. If anyone else would like to supply cookies for our Police/Fire men and women, please contact your students' room-parent or Kimberly Rodegerdts at kavail@ucdavis.edu. We would be happy to accept more, thus making the baskets even fuller!

Also, as a reminder, WCS families have been personally invited by our former D.A.R.E Officer, Jeff Henderson, to attend the Police vs. Fire football game at WHS stadium on Saturday, November 21, at 6pm. Come out and support the Woodland Police department by wearing blue. Admission is free, and a canned food donation is appreciated.

Thank you,
Doug Brown
