Dear Middle School Parents,

I hope that you all enjoyed the beautiful weather over the weekend and were able to get outside and spend some quality time with family. This week is a very special one for our country. Although unusual, having Veterans Day fall on a Wednesday this year makes for a perfect opportunity to stop all of our weekly activities and spend some time praying, reflecting and appreciating the sacrifice that our service men and women have made throughout our countrys great history and continue to make today. We are proud to assist families with loved ones currently serving in our armed forces. We have parents, grandparents and siblings of current students, as well as alumni of WCS deployed all over the world. We can never thank each one of you enough for all that your commitment to our freedom and safety means. As a school, we are committed to lifting these and all military families up in prayer daily. Please contact a teacher, the office, or myself and let us know of specific prayer needs for military personnel.

As we honor those who keep us safe on Wednesday, it is important to remember each of our roles in the safety of our students. We ask that you please observe the 5 mph speed limit in the campus parking lot and follow the car pool procedures. The yellow curb lane is just for quick drop off and pick up of students. There are several safety issues that arise when anyone parks there. If you need to conduct any business in the office, please pull into a parking space. While these are minor issues, it is important that we take the time and offer the proper consideration to keeping our students safe. The last thing any of us wants is an accident in the parking lot.

We announced our first two Student of the Week recipients last Thursday in chapel. If you could join us in honoring and praying for Mikaela Hiatt and Jacob Naschke, we would appreciate it. They are both tremendous young people and we were happy to add this special time to their school year. You will notice their pictures up in the office next to the bulletin board as you enter. The two new students of the week will be announced this Thursday. All student council applications are in, as well, and interviews will begin this week. The applications were filled out diligently and with careful consideration by our students. We are now looking forward to the next step in the election process. Speeches will be made by the candidates in chapel a week from this Thursday. You are welcome to attend the speeches, but please check in with the office first.

As the holidays approach, please consider purchasing gift cards through our Scrip program. The value of the cards is equal to their cost and the school gets a percentage of the sales when they are redeemed. Order forms are available in the office. The Scrip program is an absolutely FREE way for you to support the school through the purchases you would normally make. Grocery cards are available for Nugget, Raleys and BelAir markets, as well. Remember that 25% of Scrip profits go directly to our teachers for extra classroom supplies. This can amount to hundreds of dollars each year if we take advantage of the program.

When offered anything in the world by God, King Solomon, instead of asking for riches, treasure, and power, asked God for wisdom. The Bible is clear that there is nothing on earth more valuable than wisdom. I would ask that you would partner with our staff in praying for the wisdom that comes from the Lord. Every situation faced and decision made throughout the day requires wisdom and the only true wisdom comes from God. Let us trust in the Lord with all our heart, and lean not on our own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5) We feel strongly that God wants to bless WCS; its families, staff and alumni. We are only going to get there, however, if each of us operates with Gods wisdom. Have a phenomenal week and may God continue to bless America and our troops!

Thank You,

Justin Smith
