High School Courses and Grades:   Every year of high school is important when it comes to college admissions.   Three different GPA’s are of crucial importance:

GPA’S/Grades

•  High School GPA – includes all grades earned in grades 9-12, with 1 point added for each C- or higher grade in honors and AP courses.   This is a weighted GPA.
•  CSU GPA – includes all grades earned in grades 10-12, except PE/Sports, with 1 point added for each C- or higher in approved honors and AP course taken in grades 11 and 12.
•  UC GPA – includes all UC approved courses in “a-g” subjects taken in grades 10-12.   One point is added for each C- or higher grade in approved honors and AP course taken in grades 11 and 12.

**Twenty-five percent of your CSU/UC GPA will be determined by this current semester’s grades.

** Most independent (private) colleges require a Mid-Year (7 th semester) Report of grades/courses midway through your senior year.

** Choice of senior-year courses will signal to the colleges your seriousness about learning and developing your mind.
