I am an Engineer

Truitt Anderson, Class of 2025

“I have been attending Woodland Christian for a total of 8 years now. I transferred here in 5th grade, and now I am a senior in high school. I love Woodland Christian because the whole school feels connected and has a special sense of community since it is so small. I also love ASB, which keeps me connected to everyone. I am involved in a variety of activities here at Woodland Christian, including band, drumline, soccer, track n field, ASB, National Honor Society and California Scholarship Foundation, and robotics. I am also the senior class president!

My favorite class this year is A.P Calculus because I love math and the application of physics. I discovered my love for problem solving in middle school here at Woodland Christian School. One of my favorite teachers is Mr. Miller, who taught me physics in high school and is now my A.P Calculus teacher. Mr. Miller is an excellent teacher because he is similar to me in the way he approaches math, which has given me a frame of reference on how to understand and approach it. Mr. Miller makes it make sense! He implements hands-on activities by showing us how to master a concept, then applying it to real-life situations and word problems. For instance, in physics, we launched eggs for labs for different chapters, which allowed us to apply many different formulas to it.

Next year, I want to go to either Grand Canyon University or Chico State to major in mechanical engineering. I want to go into research and development of robotics and automation because it is so interesting! Woodland Christian has fueled this passion of mine through the classes I have taken and the programs I am in, like robotics, asb and band. Robotics has given me lots of experience I can use to go into the development of engineering beyond just the research. ASB has given me opportunities to develop this skill as well, such as float-building for the homecoming parade each year. I have been a part of the Cardinal Band since I was in 6th grade, which has taught me discipline. In band, you have to figure out what you need to work on, and then you are held accountable to actually work on it! I hope to continue with band and drum line in college.” Truitt Anderson, Class of 2025
