I am a Person of Faith
Allie Nguyen, Class of 2025
“I love being a student at Woodland Christian. Some of my favorite things here are the people, friendships, and community I have built over the years. I am a senior now, but I have been here since I was in preschool. I have built lifelong friends who have supported me throughout my whole life here at Woodland Christian, which is very unique and special to me. I also love the teachers here, because they are always looking out for us and helping us succeed in all areas of our lives. The Christian part of “Woodland Christian” is what makes this school amazing. The opportunity we get to worship in chapel and learn about God in all of our classes is truly a blessing. We get to participate in community service for the National Honor Society and help with various activities that benefit the community, which is such a blessing to be able to do.
I became a practicing Christian in my sophomore year of high school. I grew up learning about Jesus and the Christian life all through my time here at Woodland Christian. It's been a growing journey, and it has been inspiring to have other people in my life at this school who are experiencing similar things and helping me see Jesus. The teachers and staff at Woodland Christian have helped me find and follow Jesus and understand His truth as I continue to grow in my faith. The teachers and staff here not only want to see you succeed academically but also see you grow spiritually. They are always open to help you in any way possible and they are constantly helping me succeed. The community and church members that are brought in for chapel also inspire me to grow in my faith.
My whole life, I have been singing and playing instruments including the guitar and piano. In middle school, I was able to first start leading worship for chapels and it sparked my passion for worship. I started playing guitar about four years ago when I began learning chords for fun, and then Mr. Winstead, our band director, started helping me get better. Now I get to lead worship for our high school chapels, where I usually play guitar and sing. Leading worship brings me so much joy, as I look out and see other students worshipping God. That is truly all that matters! I love being able to give them a space to be able to worship and express themselves. I also have encouraged friends to help lead worship and grow closer to God, which has been inspiring to many students on campus.
Throughout my journey at Woodland Christian, I have been able to deepen my relationship with Jesus and grow as a person. I have learned to switch my perspective on a lot of things in my life, remembering that everything is always in God’s control. I have developed a strong sense of humility in everything I do and I devote my talents and abilities to God’s glory. I have also grown in my kindness, love, respect, diligence, and responsibility here. Overall, I am so thankful for my experience at Woodland Christian. Next year, I am committed to Point Loma University in San Diego to play on the women’s golf team. I am excited to attend a Christian University, so I can continue using my talents to worship and serve Jesus.” Allie Nguyen, Class of 2025
