Welcome to Woodland Christian School!
Woodland Christian School has been providing a quality education to our community since 1974. Starting with only 60 students in our elementary school, we have grown to include a preschool, elementary school, middle school, and high school with about 950 students total. For over 50 years, the school has established a legacy of excellence, service, honor, and faith. Our students graduate Woodland Christian High School with a firm foundation in Christian beliefs, strong moral character, and an education that has prepared them for college and to ultimately - change the world.
“By God’s grace and for His glory only, Woodland Christian School exists to educate and prepare students for college and Christian life. We believe that by faith in Christ our students, parents, and staff can change the world.”
WCS Core Values
-
Educational Excellence
We will provide a safe and loving environment for students to learn. We will seek excellence in all that we do. We will work with parents to prepare and equip their students for college and to live as a light in this dark world.
-
Service
With Christ as our example, students will learn the power of serving others. In humility, we will look not only to our own interests, but to the interests of others.
-
Honorable Character
Students and staff will strive to live like Christ and be a light at home, at school, and in the community. Whether in school or out, students will respect those in authority, be known by the fruit of the spirit, be responsible, respectful and motivated to excel in all they do. We expect students and staff to be humble in all they do.
-
Faith
Students will receive Biblical training to help them grow in their knowledge and faith in Jesus Christ. By God’s grace, students and families will come to know Jesus Christ as their savior and will communicate God’s love to those they come in contact with.
Philosophy of Education
At Woodland Christian School, we are committed to fostering a Christ-centered educational environment that nurtures the intellectual, practical, spiritual, and social development of each student. Our mission is to educate and prepare students for both college and Christian life by God’s grace and for His glory. Every aspect of our academic and character development efforts aims to glorify God.
We believe in equipping students to be persons of faith, effective communicators, life-long critical thinkers, quality producers, and community contributors. Our focus on intellectual development ensures that students are not only academically prepared but also encouraged to engage with their studies from a Christian worldview. We want our students to approach learning with curiosity and discernment, understanding that all truth is God’s truth.
In addition to academics, our character-forming philosophy of education shapes students to live for the glory of God. We employ protective boundaries through ethical and practical policies, while also creating cultivating opportunities for growth. These include athletics, leadership programs, arts, community service, and other extracurricular activities.
By providing both structure and inspiration, we aim to help students develop Christ-centered character, equipping them to live with integrity and purpose. It is our hope that every student will come to know their identity in Christ, grow in wisdom, and become godly contributors to society.
Statement of Biblical Authority
We The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe (2 Timothy 3:15-17). We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the WCS Statement of Faith (1 John 1:9, Ephesians 1:7). For purposes of WCS Statement of Faith, practice, policy, and discipline, the WCS Board is the final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application. The New International Version is the officially adopted version of the Bible used at Woodland Christian School.
Statement of Faith
We believe ONLY the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21).
1. We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30).
2. We believe in the deity of Christ (John 10:33), His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:35), His sinless life (Hebrews 4: 15, 7:26), His miracles (John 2:11), His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 2:9), His Resurrection (John 11:25, 1 Corinthians 15:4), His Ascension to the right hand of God (Mark 16:19), His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11).
3. We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature and that men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ and that only by God's grace and through faith alone are we saved (John 3:16–19, 5:24; Romans 3:23, 5:8–9; Ephesians 2:8–10; Titus 3:5).
4. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of condemnation (John 5:28– 29).
